All the rage about the Kitchen Hood Range

Kitchen Range Hoods are one of those things that are often viewed as an over sight in Kitchen Remodeling, but they are in fact one of the most popular kitchen appliances sold. Houzz reports kitchen range hoods were one of the top five best selling categories and the wide variety of different options available shows that Kitchen hoods (sometimes referred to as Kitchen extractor fans) are being considered more and more as an essential part of the kitchen and not just an optional extra. Indeed, despite the fact that many are obtrusive and bulky, kitchen designers try to use the hood as a kitchen center piece designing the room around it.

With the wide range (pun intended) how do you actually choose which type of Kitchen hood to get?

At NYKB we get asked this a lot and most recently,  Nick one of top design consultants was interviewed by Residentialproductsonline.com and asked for his professional opinion on the different types and styles.

While some of the latest designs including hidden kitchen hoods that collapse into a cabinet or ceiling to save space and a great option in NYC kitchen remodeling‘s where space is a luxury that most Manhattan apartments don’t have, as Nick pointed out,  the function of all range hoods is the same. The power of the range or cooktop underneath determines the size and power of the hood needed, but there are still choices builders must make. One is whether they want to install a standard bent-out venting range hood or a ventless one, which filters the air and then blows it back out into the room.

Ventless Kitchen hoods require filters and regular maintenance as the grease and odor can build up and as the air is blown back in the room so will the impurities and fumes. Depending on the specific room and availability ventless hoods may be the only options in many homes and even here there are a variety of different ones to choose from.

One of the more popular kitchen oven hood options being used by creative Kitchen Designers are concealed hoods. Integrating them into the kitchen cabinetry or covering with wall tiles, the options are endless and the results do wonder for the kitchen design as well as functionality. Elle Decor show 28 visually appealing different kitchen hood style ideas.
