A steam shower, a whirlpool bath, and a warm towel within reach—this Upper East Side bathroom remodeling brings those everyday comforts together in a compact Manhattan space.
For this East 73rd Street project, NYKB paired Porcelanosa tile with a floating vanity, polished chrome fixtures, and integrated lighting. The finished bathroom includes a separate glass-enclosed steam shower and a Hydro Systems whirlpool tub, giving the homeowners a choice between a quick shower and time to unwind.
Porcelanosa Tile Sets the Tone
Large-format Porcelanosa Astana Grey wall tile gives the room its distinctive veining and soft grey palette. The generous tile format lets the pattern carry across the walls with fewer grout lines interrupting it.
Porcelanosa Ferroker tile introduces a deeper, warmer contrast on the bathroom floor and long niche. Inside the shower, Malla Morse Coal Natural mosaic tile adds a smaller-scale pattern underfoot.
Together, these finishes give the bathroom depth without relying on several competing colors.
A Steam Shower with More Ways to Relax
The glass-enclosed shower combines a MrSteam control package and linear steam head with polished chrome fixtures from the Fantini Venezia by Venini collection.
A ceiling-mounted square showerhead, handheld shower, and three adjustable body sprays offer different ways to use the space. The handheld also makes rinsing the enclosure easier, while a recessed niche keeps shower essentials off the floor.
Clear glass preserves views of the tile and allows the shower to feel connected to the rest of the bathroom.
A Whirlpool Bath Beneath the Window
A Hydro Systems Lacey rectangular whirlpool tub sits beneath the window, alongside the separate shower. Its built-in installation fits into the tiled surround, giving the bathing area a consistent finish.
Having both a tub and a shower means neither experience has to be combined into one enclosure. The homeowners can use the shower for their daily routine and enjoy the whirlpool bath when they have more time.
Floating Storage and Layered Lighting
The floating vanity provides drawer storage beneath a light countertop, leaving the floor visible below. A mirrored cabinet adds storage above the sink without introducing another freestanding piece.
Lighting traces the ceiling perimeter and highlights the recessed niches, bringing out the tile’s texture and veining. Illumination around the mirror supports the vanity area, while the different light sources give the room a softer atmosphere beyond the main ceiling fixtures.
A Jeeves Model E towel warmer in polished chrome completes the space, coordinating with the shower fittings and keeping towels close at hand.
